How Can I Spot Spam Comments on My Blog?

How to Avoid Spam CommentsA number of book authors have recently asked me how they can spot the spam comments on their blogs so they can separate them from the legitimate comments they want to let through.

The number one answer to this question is simple. Get the Akismet plugin for your WordPress blog, install it, and activate it. From my experience, the Akismet plugin service eliminates 99% of all spam comments. That lessens your job immensely.

The second option is to set your comments to go through Facebook or Google+. Few spam comments come via these commenting systems.

But, now, to answer the basic question of how to spot spam comments, here are two basic ways to spot them:

1. You can spot many spam comments by their complete devotion to casinos, drugs, high ticket fashion (Louboutin, Gucci, Kors, Vuitton, Oakley, Tiffany), SEO, sports jerseys, etc.

2. If a comment contains any of the words, phrases, or sentences spotlighted below, chances are that the comment is itself spam. The samples below were spam I cleaned from an author’s blog I’ve been working on. Mark these comments as spam, and then delete all the spam.

After ɡoing over a number of the articles on your blog, I really like your technique of blogging.

I booҡmarked your post to my bookmaгk weƅsite list and will be checking back soon.
