Condé Nast Style Society, which I mentioned last week does have one key requirement: You must be a woman. The first qualifying question they ask is your gender. When one reader replied male, they responded: Sorry, we have no opening right now.
So, how do you get around this requirement if you are a man like me? You can lie and claim to be a woman, but this presents problems because the purpose of joining the society is to begin creating a relationship with the magazine’s editors.
So, use the second choice: Use your wife’s name, a female friend’s name, a sister’s name. Someone who will allow you to represent them in the Society.
