Derek Murphy, author of Shearwater, book one of the Ocean Depths mermaid series, has done some wonderful stuff in promoting his book launch this past week. Here’s a little of what he has to say about his launch (on his Urban Epics blog):
I just published Part One of my first novel Shearwater – an epic YA mermaid romance – and I wanted to do something fun and meaningful for my book launch: raise money for ocean conservancy and to protect marine wildlife.
During launch week, not only will all earnings be donated, but I’ll further donate $1 for every sale. I hope to raise and donate $1000 to save manatee….
You can either download the book when it’s free on January 29th, or buy it for 99 cents from the 30th. I hope you’ll enjoy the book, and I want to give it to you for free, but if you want to actually make a difference and help raise some money for wildlife conservation, please wait and get it for 99 cents: Shearwater.
Note: Derek is also a book cover designer. And, as you can see from the cover above, he is a very good designer.
The thing I really like about his book cover designs is that at least some of them are made in Microsoft Word. You can check out his cover designs at http://www.diybookcovers.com.
