Michael Hyatt: How to Create Blog Content People Love

Michael Hyatt

In this episode of his Social Media Marketing podcast, Michael Stetzner interviews Michael Hyatt, author of Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World as well as former publisher at Thomas Nelson Publishers.

How to blog as successfully as Michael

Promote older posts. One of the tactics he uses is to bulk upload and schedule tweets in SocialOomph for older articles such as the one below:

Michael Hyatt

Focus your blog posts. Learn how to decide what to publish on your site and how to stay focused on being good at what you do best.

Feature photos and images. Michael spends 10-20 minutes per blog post to find the right photo. Learn why he rejects photos that are cliché.

Use open-ended questions. Michael gets comment conversations going by asking open-ended questions at the end of his blog posts. His aim it to get people taking to one another as much as to him.

Interview people. Interviews give you credibility (based on the people you interview). Invite people who can provide great content that your community will love.

Give people incentives to sign up for your email newsletter. The most important asset of any blogger is his or her email newsletter subscription list. Newsletter readers are far more committed to the blogger and content that those who subscribe via RSS.
